Plant care in a shared home fails in a specific way: two people water the same fern and nobody waters the other one.
Most care apps assume one person with one collection. Real homes are not like that. Someone waters when they notice, someone else feeds the cat, and the actual failure mode is not forgetting, it is duplication and assumption. Everyone sees the same tasks
Invite a partner or a flatmate and they see every profile and every task. Ticking something off removes it for everyone immediately, which is the whole point.

The activity feed shows that Emma cleaned the litter box two hours ago and Marco walked Nala at four. That answers the question that otherwise gets asked out loud every evening.
The free tier is shared, not per person
Five free profiles belong to the household rather than to each member, so inviting your partner does not cost anything and does not halve anyone's allowance.

The details that matter
It runs on your iCloud, not our servers
Sharing uses Apple's CloudKit: a private database in the household owner's own iCloud account, shared with the members they invite. There is no Kounts account, no Kounts server and nothing for us to read. If you stop using the app, the data is still yours and still in your iCloud.
Built for the offline case
The app works fully offline and syncs when it can. Two people ticking the same task on a bad connection resolves cleanly rather than producing a duplicate or losing one, because care events are recorded as an append-only log rather than overwritten state.
Sitters get a different thing entirely
A household member is someone you trust with the app. A sitter gets a private web link instead: read-only, browser-based, no install and no account, and it expires when you say so.
What it is not
It is not a chore assignment system. There is no allocating tasks to people, no leaderboard and no accountability scoring. It shows what needs doing and who did it, and stops there deliberately.

Household sharing is free at every tier, and the five free profiles are shared across the whole household rather than counted per person. Premium is Family Shareable at $19.99 a year, $34.99 once, or $2.99 monthly.
Questions, answered
How many people can join a household?
It uses Apple's CloudKit sharing, so it fits a household comfortably. Everyone needs an iPhone running iOS 26 and needs to be signed in to iCloud.
Does everyone need to pay?
No. The free tier's five profiles cover the household, and Premium is Family Shareable, so one purchase covers everyone in your Apple Family.
Can I share only some plants?
No. Sharing is at household level, so members see every profile. That is a deliberate simplification: partial sharing creates exactly the ambiguity about who is responsible for what that this feature exists to remove.
What if I do not want to use iCloud?
Everything works on one device without it. You lose sharing and sync, and keep every other feature including reminders, identification and toxicity warnings.
