The details that matter
Where the photos live
In the app's own storage and, if you have sharing on, in your private iCloud as CloudKit assets. They are not uploaded to any Kounts server, because there is not one.
Household members see the log too
Growth entries sync with the household, so a plant's history belongs to the home rather than to whoever happened to take the photos.
Archive rather than delete
When a plant dies or a pet passes, the profile can be archived rather than deleted, keeping the photos and the history. There is a memorial flow for pets, which sounds like a small thing until you need it.

Care history exports as a PDF, which is the format a vet can actually use. Growth photos and timelapse films are yours to save and share.

Questions, answered
How often should I take a growth photo?
Monthly is enough for most houseplants and produces a good film over a year. Weekly suits something fast like a monstera in its growing season, or a puppy.
Does the overlay work in the dark?
It lines up framing, not lighting. For a consistent-looking film, take photos in similar light, which usually means the same time of day in the same spot.
Can I import photos I already have?
You can add existing photos from your library to a growth log. They will not have been framed with the overlay, so early entries in a sequence may jump around a little.
What happens to the photos if I stop paying?
They stay. The log, the photos and the history are free features. Premium adds the timelapse rendering and the exports, so lapsing means you keep everything and lose the ability to generate a new film.
